Bichat’s fat pad reduction

Fat pad reduction helps to slim the face and eliminate the unwanted fullness effect. This procedure also allows for better exposure of structures that are naturally more prominent on a woman’s face, such as the zygomatic arches. Fat compartments greatly affect the appearance, perception and ability to achieve a typically feminine facial expression. Bichat’s fat pads are fat structures located in the cheek area just above the cheekbones between the masseter and the facial muscles. They are not only responsible for the shape and oval of the face, but together with the surrounding muscles they build a structure that gives the effect of fullness to the face.

What is the Bichat’s fat pad reduction procedure?

During the facial feminization process, we can work on both bone tissue and soft structures. Through access inside the mouth, the surgeon is able to modify the fatty tissue and achieve the desired result. A minimal incision (about 5 mm) in the gums allows us to safely remove excess fat pad tissue. The surgeon does not interfere with the structure of the muscles, salivary glands or dental arches. After the procedure, only a small, invisible scar remains inside the mouth.

In the first few days after the procedure, there may be some visible swelling of the cheeks, which will disappear naturally after some time. The first feminizing effect of Bichat’s fat pad reduction will appear after about 6 months, while the final result is visible one year after surgery.
